MeloFeed - Natural source of primary antioxidants for poultry and livestock Alerta

MELOFEED® is a lyophilized-dried melon juice product obtained from processing fresh melon fruit into juice.  The raw material, obtained from melon fruit pulp, is lyophilized into dry but hygroscopic powder.  The resulting product is naturally rich in antioxidants and enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase.
To enable the preservation of these naturally rich substances, the resulting lyophilized product is  micro-encapsulated -  providing a protective effect on its naturally rich nutrients but also on the handling properties of the product  (in this form it can withstand high temperatures).

In normal animal husbandry and production, livestock and or companion animals undergo situations that could lead to high stress levels and the presence of certain substances such as antioxidants in their diet have been demonstrated to be beneficial in helping them maintain their normal growth and general well being in these circumstances.  In general and during reproduction and embryonic  development in particular, anti-oxidants such as those naturally present in MELOFEED® could help improve the subsequent vitality, (born alive number) and, homogeneity of neonatal  litters, as well as subsequent  piglets’ vitality and maturity.  In the same light, challenges faced at weaning, on vaccination and possibly diseases status could easily be overcome.  For example racing horses could easily and more rapidly recover from such physical efforts if its antioxidant activity is optimal.   Finally with a better oxidative status final meat quality could also be optimized.
