KL aviary
Open-sided, multilevel aviaries offer laying hens all the advantages of being in a natural, outdoor setting while giving the farmer a degree of monitoring and supervision that was previously available only in enclosed henhouses. A cleverly thought-out henhouse concept, based on a modular design. Our long years of experience have shown us that the correct arrangement and configuration of the individual elements (feed, water, perches and laying nests) have a decisive bearing on profitable outcomes.
As new facilities cannot always be made to fit an existing building, our aviary systems are based on a unique modular design that allows them to be adapted to virtually any situation. The layout of the feed supply, watering, nesting, and lighting systems and perches, etc. can be customised to fit the henhouse and its planned livestock density. The birds’ scratching areas are located to the sides of and beneath the aviary, thereby contributing to the efficient use of available henhouse facilities. Aviary systems for laying hens make life easier for those working in the henhouse. The design of these aviary systems offers farm workers particularly good working conditions. The passageways running inside are sufficiently wide to allow access, but narrow enough for the birds to be able to jump from one level to another. The positioning of the laying nests offers the farmer optimised opportunity for monitoring.
- Natural, open, multilevel system
- Flexible system for the efficient use of available henhouse space
- Conditions of maximum hygiene
- Full monitoring and oversight of the henhouse
- Maximum stock density with reasonable operating expense
- Henhouse floor space = 100% scratching area
- Optional plastic or wire-mesh base
- Chain-type / spiral feed system
- Systems for the removal of droppings, with transverse and inclined conveyor belts
- Optional: Drying conduit for droppings, air mixer, centrifugal blower
- Lighting / climate control / ventilation systems
- Egg conveyor belts: 245 / 345 / 500
- Storage, weighing and conveying of feed
- Egg sorting / curved conveyors / elevators / lift systems / packing and printing equipment

Fienhage Poultry Solutions GmbH
Bernhard Fienhage opened a cartwright’s workshop at the site still occupied by the present company in 1900. With the market for farm carts and carriages shrinking, the founder’s son Hans Fienhage (pictured on the right) took over the firm in 1955 and transformed it into a supplier of silos.
The company continued to grow during the years that followed. As the firm’s senior partner, Hans Fienhage continued with silo construction, while Hans-Jürgen Fienhage began to manage the production of laying nests for the alternative hen-keeping sector in 1987. This venture into a new branch of business also worked out well, requiring a radical restructuring of the company.
The company registered as Fienhage GmbH in 1991 was now a specialist in the development and production of henhouse equipment for the egg sector. Since 2008, the company has also been a producer of equipment for keeping broiler chickens. Various changes and additions took place in the years in between.
